Book of Delaney III
"Thank you, Delaney,"
two dwarves said, "for rescuing
our son from danger."
"You must be Burlock's parents,"
Delaney replied, "how sweet!"
They invited her
to their village for supper.
She refused at first
saying, “My car needs repairs.”
Burlock told her, “Ask Alex,
she knows many things.
That woman, who owns this land,
can fix your machine."
Delaney asked, "Where is she?”
Burlock's mother responded,
"No one has seen her
around her palace for years
since the last wildfire."
Delaney's stomach rumbled.
Burlock's parents insisted.
After a warm meal,
Delaney found rest inside
Burlock's bungalow.
They made her a pair of shoes
to reward her compassion.
When the sun came up,
Delaney rose to the smell
of a fresh breakfast.
Then, they gifted her new shoes.
Delaney cheered, “I love them!”
"Starting a journey
on an empty stomach will
bring an early end,"
Burlock's father said to her.
She asked, "Which way do I go?"
"It's covered in soot,"
Burlock's mother said, "a road
paved with yellow bricks."
And Delaney departed,
seeking the yellow brick road.
