Book of Delaney V

Over fallen trees,

Delaney and Will traversed
the thick charcoal fog.

Will asked her, "Are you okay?"

She answered, "What do you mean?"

Will said, "Your car crashed,

is that right? I'm no doctor."

Delaney vaulted

the obstructions in their path

saying, "Thanks for worrying!"

They heard a pained shout

and, rushing ahead, they found

a man caught on fire,

string-tied to a wooden pyre.

Will cut the man loose in haste.

Using his tunic

Will smothered the flames to death,

saving the man's life

who then hollered, "Save my hat!"

Delaney fulfilled his wish.
