Book of Don V

In that rhythmic fog
Parsley, Sage, and Mary stood
while Don danced around
with the young water drummer.
Don invited them to dance.

Parsley asked, "Why not?"
Sage said, "Because we're stranded!
We have no water!"
Mary caught a whiff of rain
just before the first drop fell.

Mary said to Sage,
"Could rain power up your car?"
Sage answered, "Maybe.
We need a container though."
They retrieved one from the trunk.

An empty gallon
meant to contain gasoline
had no trace of oil.
Leaving the gallon open,
they collected rainwater.

Parsley wandered off,
following the nearby scent
of a meal cooking.
As he exited the fog,
he journeyed through darkened woods.

Don and the maiden
stood together in the rain.
She set her drum down
and happily embraced Don,
speaking in her native tongue.

"I don't understand,"
Don said when she grabbed his hand.
"Wait, your drum!" He said.
She led him into the woods.
He placed his hat on her head.

The rain fell harder,
but the maiden found her way
back to her dead fire.
She called, but no one answered.
Then, she started to worry.
