Book of Delaney II

Free from their cage, they
left the cabin behind for
the great wide open.
"You're not from Carolina?"
Delaney heard the dwarf ask.

"No. I'm from New York,"
she answered as they walked on
through the wilderness.
"I used to camp around here.
I'm Delaney, and you are?"

"Burlock," the dwarf said.
She smiled, "It's nice to meet you!
Have you seen my car?"
"A car? I saw one earlier."
Burlock replied with candor.

Delaney chuckled.
"Wait till you see mine," she said.
"Oh wait. I crashed it."
Burlock heard her words and froze,
"You conquered the fearmonger?"

Burlock knew the place
where Delaney crashed her car
into a boulder;
where the dwarves crowded around
Delaney's DeLorean.

"So, this is your car?"
Burlock asked. Delaney said,
"She’s seen better days for sure."
What was left of the machine
lay wedged into a boulder.

The dwarves cheered because
their captor, the fearmonger
died under the stone!
"The force from your crash must have
rolled the stone over this man."

Delaney looked down.
Poking out under the rock
an open hand, gloved,
just a short stone's throw away
from the captor’s silver whip.
