Book of Scarborians VI
Dawn of the jousting—
good sports and friendly faces
joined the festival.
People filled the stands, watching
the tournament unravel.
In the fair stables
contestants prepared themselves
with protective gear,
mounting their graceful horses
before taking up the lance.
Elvie studied them,
noting each rider's weakness
just before her round.
Her mount, ignoring the staff,
carried her around the field.
She spoke to the crowd,
"These formalities bore me.
I am your victor!"
The people gasped in response
to her swift, harsh victory.
