Book of Don VI

"Do you understand?"
Parsley asked the injured man
he defended from
a knight who wore strange armor.
Parsley said, "Get somewhere safe."

Silent in the rain,
the knight unsheathed a broadsword.
Slicing through the woods,
a tree fell toward the man,
but Parsley pulled him away.

"Run away!" He yelled,
pointing to where they came from.
The man understood.
Heavy metal steps lingered
as Parsley gave the knight chase.

Outmaneuvering
the powerhouse, Parsley swiped
away its broadsword.
With one solid cut downward
the armor fell down, lifeless.

Rain began to fill
each cavity of armor,
pouring out the holes
like tears out of hollow eyes.
Parsley noticed a strange mark.

"Sign of the Burgess,
this reeks of trouble," he said.
He heard Sage shouting,
"Parsley? Parsley, you're okay!"
No sooner did she strike him.

"What were you thinking
leaving us stranded like that?"
Mary translated
the language of the maiden.
"She's asking about a man."

Parsley rubbed his arm
turning to the young woman
standing next to Don.
"A knight attacked that kind man,
but don't worry. He is safe."
